Supertrek Cerro Frías Summit – 1,095 Meters of Pure Patagonia
Experience the thrill of reaching the very top of Cerro Frías on a journey designed for true trekking and adventure enthusiasts.
We start from the historic ranch house and, after an initial hour of hiking, reach the Refugio Leñador (“Woodcutter’s Shelter”), once used in the early 20th century by ranch hands to collect firewood. Here, we take a short break before facing the steeper, more demanding slopes ahead.
The trail then leads us deep into the lenga forest, where a challenging 1.5-hour climb rewards us with the first breathtaking views: the Cordón de los Cristales, the Centinela River Valley, and, on clear days, the imposing Torres del Paine in Chile. From a plateau at 800 meters above sea level, we begin the final and most demanding stretch, pushing all the way to the summit at 1,095 meters.
From the top, a stunning 360° panorama unfolds: the full expanse of Lake Argentino, peaks of the Andes, the Cordón de los Baguales, and, with a bit of luck, even the majestic Mount Fitz Roy in the distance.
Our descent includes stops at historic shelters to rest, hydrate, and enjoy a Patagonian packed lunch, following alternative trails that offer new perspectives of the mountain. Upon returning to the ranch house, a delicious afternoon snack will be the perfect ending to this epic day.
